He karanga toi! Call for artists released

We are calling for toi Māori practitioners who want to help lift the presence of ngā toi Māori in our built-environment and public spaces in Whakatū.

There are some exciting opportunities on the horizon — including a waka build for the new playspace and a Pikimai projection for Te Ramaroa.

To share more, we’re hosting three Artist Information Sessions on Tuesday 9th September at Refinery Artspace

These hui are a chance to:

  • Hear about the commissioning opportunities coming up through Kōpū

  • Learn how to register as a Kōpū artist (and get help registering on the day)

  • Connect with others who may be interested in collaborating on opportunities

  • Enjoy some kai and a wānanga together on all the exciting possibilities for ngā toi Māori

We know everyone’s availability is different, so you can choose the time that suits you best:

  • Morning Session — 10:00–11:00am

  • Lunchtime Session — 12:00–1:00pm

  • After Work Session — 5:00–6:00pm

Please register so we can provide kai and manage numbers.

Finally, if you're keen on these opportunities, then get a head start and register now as an interested artist.

Registering is fast and simple - and ensures you’re first to hear about new calls and commissions.

Register as an artist here.
